The Biomedical Engineering Research Group develops new medical devices that meet the needs of clinicians. Current programs investigate innovative smart tools for surgery, smart biosensing systems, cell processing, novel implants, patient monitoring and well-being assessment, mechanical cardiac support including left ventricular assist devices, and the underlying mechanics of blood flow needed to produce safe and effective solutions. The research is led by a professional team of clinicians and engineers with many decades of combined experience.
